The game emporium

Since I bought my new ASUS ROG gaming laptop, I have started watching more often game reviews on YouTube and even try some of them on my own. Below is a summary of the most interesting titles I played so far.

First game I tried was The Elder Scrolls - Skyrim V. I think I managed to put only about 10-15 hours into the game because it din't really catch on. Even if it has all the necessary ingredients to be a game on my own taste, I still felt something was missing. The open game world and the multitude of possibilities to interact with the game characters and items makes Skyrim a great game. It's initial release was on 11th November 2011 which is almost 4 years ago. Four years is a huge period in Computer Gaming world. I really wanted to try something new and to find out what improvements in gaming happened in the past years.

After doing a bit of research on the newest titles released, I decided to try Dying Light. The game follows adventures of a mercenary hired by a corporation to retrieve some documents from an infected area roaming with zombies. There are plenty of other zombie games that failed to impress, but I decided to buy it and give it a try. Soon I was hooked on the game mainly because of the combat and movement system. The parkour system is implemented quite well and it was a novelty in movement mechanics for me. The missions were a bit repetitive, and took me all over the map to do various tasks for different characters. The strongest memory I have from Dying Light is me getting out of the building where I did the tutorial with a pipe in my hand, ready to fight some zombies. After searching around for a few seconds, I meet my first zombie and started slashing it with the pipe. It turned out to be quite difficult to kill it. After a minute or more of kicking and running around to catch my breath, the zombie died and I was ready to fight another one. To my surprise the pipe broke shortly after I started killing my second zombie and I had to run back to the building for safety. The difficulty of this initial fight made me want to do some missions and improve my character stats so I could get better and eventually lead being hooked to the game for the next several weeks.

A highly anticipated release for me was Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V. GTA5 is an open world, action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. The game was released on 17 September 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and on 14 April 2015 for PC.

Rockstar has created one of the most extraordinary game environments I ever visited. Everything about Los Santos demonstrates the extraordinary effort and love poured into it by hundreds of developers over several years. The gorgeous sunsets, the way sunglasses subtly alter the color balance of the world, the carefully chosen music, they way characters clothes get wet on their back from perspiration when it's really hot and many more such details, make this game the best one I ever played. I won't go into details about the game because there are plenty of reviews all over the web, like the one on PcGamer's site here.

Since I took the time to enjoy this extraordinary game in it's every aspect, I'm still playing from time to time GTA5 both the offline and online version.

A new layout

Recently I decided to change the blog layout because I felt the old one was a bit too dull.

Blogger offers a variety of layouts to choose from. After looking trough all of them, I choose the current one because I felt it is most suited to what this blog is intended to be. The current layout has a much brighter theme but in the same time the background image is a little fuzzy. It's similar with the content, which is not aimed to a specific topic but tries to catch insights of how I see the world, making everything a little fuzzy. :)

I hope you enjoy the change!
